Varanasi (Kashi) one of the oldest living city in the world. It is a center of living and civilization for over 3000 years. Varanasi is the right from two river which flow into the Ganga between in which the city exist. i.e. Varuna river and Assi river. It is mainly seeing as an ultimate pilgrimage for the Hindus.
Festivals of Varanasi :-
By virtue of its religious and cultural importance of Varanasi is abuzz with fairs and festivals almost all around the year. Some of then like ‘Bharat Milap’, ‘Buddh Purnima’, ‘dev Deepawali’, ‘Hanuman Jayanti’, ‘Naag Nathaiya’ etc. have a unique significance. Beside festival and holidays many “Mela’s” , fairs are also held.

The unique and historic tradition of art and culture makes Varanasi the cultural capital of India. It has a rich combination of archeological, mythological and geographical heritage. Though is a main center of Hindu pilgrims, one can find glimpse of almost every religious institutions at Varanasi.
Banarasi Masti:-
Varanasi has its unique lifestyle culture. People wear “Gamcha” has they go bathing in Ganga and drink “Thandai” which have become a part of the cultural identity of Varanasi. You can easily sence the freeness of the people even when you walk through the endless narrow ‘Galis’ of unique city.
Climate of Varanasi:-
Varanasi is located on the gangatic planes and the climate is too hot (upto 40°C) and humid in summer and cool and pleasantin winters. Torrential rains and high humidity accompanies the maansoon that usually come in late June or early july for about two months.
Varanasi Ghats:-
Ghats of Ganga are perhaps the holiest spots of Varanasi. There are more than 100 Ghats along side of Ganga in Varanasi. Some prominent ones are Dasaswamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Harischandra Ghat, Kabir Ghat and Assi Ghat with each one having its own unique history.
BHU:-
BHU holds the trivilage of being the largest residential university in Asia with over 12000 students living on its campus. It was founded in 1916 by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya. The campus spreads over 1350 acre of land donated by the Kashi Naresh. It has Rajeev Gandhi south campus of a bigger land to 2760 acre near the city of Mirzapur. It has 140 teaching department and more than 55 hostels of boys and girls. It is set to become India’s 16th IIT from academic session 2010.
